Microsoft Remote Keyboard for MCE
July 12, 2005
Engadget has a preview of a new Microsoft Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition.
Infrared, touchpoint mouse, backlit buttons and the requisite little green MCE button, for “under $100″.
If this will work with the same remote receiver as the MCE Remote, I can finally retire my trusty old “Airboard” and its receiver, and clean up my installation a bit.
Windows Media Center Guide Update Woes
July 12, 2005
I’ve been trying to stabilize my MCE box for the last month or two now. After changing video cards and decoders, I seemed to about have it licked, with one notable exception.
Every night, between about 12:45am and 1:10am, the machine would lock up. If you reboot it during that period, like as not it will lock up repeatedly.
Since this is prime TV watching time for me (I usually will watch a little bit before going to bed), this wasn’t going to cut it.

Bodum Pavina Double-Wall Tumblers
July 9, 2005
Since I was downtown on business the other day, I figured I’d drop in the downtown Apple Store (I usually go to their store in one of the suburban malls.)
An Apple Store is usually an expensive enough experience for me (mysterious minor iPod problem not solved, another bag full of accessories bought *sigh*), but in the height of cruelty, someone decided to put a Bodum store right next to it…

Postfiltering 4th Generation Media
July 4, 2005
Speaking of non-standard television distribution models, John Rogers (Executive Producer of Global Frequency) is waxing philosophic on what he calls “4th Generation Media” — the “insurgency” model, where you skip all of the crap of getting people’s attention on the medium-of-scarcity (traditional television), and go direct to getting people’s attention via media-of-plenty (broadband, DVD, etc.)

Treo 650 Battery Drain Follow-Up
July 4, 2005
There still appears to be no fix in site for the massive battery drain problem on Treo 650 with 1.12 firmware that a lot of people (including me) have been experiencing.
In the meantime, though, here’s something that has kinda-sorta helped for me…

Dead Inside?

Slingbox Buzz
July 2, 2005
If buzz is enough to make you rich, then the folks at Slingbox are due quite a payday (despite having one of the more grotesque case designs I’ve seen in ages).
There’s a lot of talk about Slingbox right now, but I’m getting mighty frustrated about what’s not being said, namely a list of equipment and players that they thing is known to work correctly with.
