Capturing Streams

I’d mentioned that in the release configuration, StreamRipper won’t rip a Live365 stream.  Which requires a little reading between the lines, but not much…

Meanwhile over on the Mac, I’ve just discovered Audio Hijack Pro, which appears to be able to capture anything that iTunes (or most anything else using the audio system) is playing.  Does this mean that it also gets around the digital rights management issues with Apple’s new music sales?

Hmmm….

I suppose if it would work for that, it probably would also work for Audible books, which use the same format…

Anyone know of similar functionality on the PC side of the fence?

(Skipping the whole peer-to-peer discussion quagmire, when I purchase an audio selection of any kind, I don’t really care about copying it to pass around a zillion copies, but I =do= care that I can listen to it where I want to—on my PC, on the Mac, on one of the other PCs in the house, on my handheld, in my car, etc.  It’s expected that if I buy a CD I can play it on any CD player, I don’t want to be treated any differently just because I opted not to buy the round piece of Lexan with my selection.)

New TVersity Streams Video to XBox 360I loves me some TVersity. I've been using this excellent freeware UPNP AV server for awhile to serve up content to my various digital media players, and frankly, it works better than anything else I've tried.
