Gonzo – The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

June 2, 2008

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — Hunter S. Thompson was an American Hero in the truest sense of the word. That’s why I think it’s particularly fitting that Gonzo is slated to open on July 4th*. There’s a much high quality trailier available at Apple, but for those of you who can’t be bothered, here’s the YouTube version:

* although I freely admit it’d be even better if it would open someplace you could smoke, drink Wild Turkey and set off fireworks (and handguns) (and howitzers) while you watched it. You know Doc would have wanted it that way.

it’s pre-ordered in my Amazon basket (‘save for later’); no way will i pay the asking price which, right now is nearly 50 bucks in real money. 😉

but last month i snagged ‘Where The Buffalo Roam’ (Bill Murray playing the good doctor back in 1980) as well as ‘Buy The Ticket-Take The Ride’ (excellent collection of footage starring Hunter). and i’m STILL savouring your wonderful present:: ‘The Kitchen Readings’. *sigh*

on 20 february he’ll be gone for 4 years. FOUR YEARS, FFS… almost seems like yesterday and i miss him more than ever.

rimones last blog’s big whoop time
