Iced Tea Communists

March 3, 2005

In case you run out of interesting things to actually read, do or brew regarding your tea, you can read this strange debate as to whether iced tea is actually a communist drink.

Personally, I’m inclined to think that ice water with lemon is actually much more communist than iced tea…

Not communist, just cheap and thirsty. At least I remember to rehydrate when I eat. Back in the day, every time you set foot in a restaurant (greasy spoon on up), the server brought everyone at the table a glass of water. Now there’s communist.

Clean that nasty machine! There's nothing worse than a funky coffee maker. Coffee is filled with essential oils. While these are superb in the cup, when they're left to dry on equipment, they turn into nasty, rancid, bitter oils that can render even the most finely ground, sublime bean into a hidious tasting cup of hot nastiness. Sure, you wash out your carafe, and all of the other removable pieces, but there are still places lurking in your coffee maker where the crud builds up, and awaits its opportunity to spoil your morning cuppa. What to do? Clean that nasty machine! The easiest way to deal with a case of the coffee crud is by using an off-the-shelf coffee machine cleaner. I personally like...

3 Simple Tips For Making Perfect CoffeeWant to brew the perfect cup of coffee? Here are 3 simple tips that will make a difference in every single cup you drink. Be sure to rinse extra good so no residue is left behind. Tip #2 Clean Filtered Water The water you use for your coffee will affect the taste more than anything. Coffee is 99% water so use clean filtered or bottled water free...

Dilute with one-half the cold water, add crushed shell, and mix with coffee. Turn into coffee-pot, pour on...

Growing Your Own Herbs for TeaIf you love herbal teas, as I do, you know they are just a little bit pricey. However, growing your own herbs is easy and so much fun! Here are just a few of the herbs you might want to consider for a tea garden: (by Cyndi Roberts) Chamomile: Remember the favorite tea of Peter Rabbit? Only the flowers of this fragrant herb are used when making tea. Chamomile tea can be enjoyed by itself or you might enjoy adding mint or lemon verbena. Lemon Balm: This herb is lemony with a touch of mint and makes a soothing cup of tea. It's easy to grow (almost too easy) so remember to keep it clipped back. Lemon Verbena: An excellent...
