Maybe the sky IS falling

November 7, 2005

Wow… Apparently even taking your kids to see a G-rated movie isn’t necessarily safe — a Times Square theater “treated” Chicken Little viewers to the first five minutes of a Spanish drama showing a young boy hanging himself from a tree before starting the family fare…

“It’s pandemonium,” Joshua Gallo, 30, told the Daily News as he rushed out of the theater with his 5-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter. “The kids are crying. The mothers are screaming for the managers to stop the film.”

Terrified children didn’t know what to do as they watched a young boy hang himself from a tree at the 8:45 p.m. screening.

Find the supermodel of your dreams…It may just be your lucky day, at Supermodel Personals. "You’ve got the H2, got the nice house- the fireplace, the piano, the tasteful objets d’ art and framed pictures of your kids’ birthday parties- and, most importantly, you’ve got the divorce. Now all you need is a hot 19-year old little bitch to stroke your… ego, and stroll around the house in lingerie, looking sexy and pissed off." Or maybe not so lucky… Anyway, a lot of fun… (caution: link not overly safe for work, depending where you work, I suppose) ...

Google, Urchin & Real Biddness…Awhile back, I mentioned that Google had bought (high-dollar) analytics provider Urchin, but apparently some of their customers couldn't get anyone at Google interested in taking their money to renew their license... Well, I guess that wasn't too surprising, since they were apparently planning on giving it away for free all along. Apparently Free is the new Profit... Or owning all of the metadata of everyone on the 'net is worth giving a bunch of stuff away to get it (which it probably is)... I signed up yesterday, figuring that since my Google traffic took a hit in the last update I might as well let them count how much traffic they're not sending me. Unfortunately, it looks like they've...

Comdex - Still DeadThis just in—Comdex is still dead. Comdex, once one of the largest high-tech tradeshows in the world, has been cancelled for a second year, the show’s owner said Tuesday. Comdex 2005 was cancelled despite the efforts of its owner MediaLive International Inc. to take the conference out of limbo. The tradeshow, which is traditionally held in Las Vegas, Nev., in November, was cancelled last year for the first time after 25 years. Meanwhile, a bazillion geeks look up from their web browsers and say “so what?”, and the only folks who are apparently mourning it are Vegas hotel owners and the people who still own the body… Comdex made a lot of sense some sense was somewhat useful back in...

Hell & High Water - New Orleans is BurningCredit: DirectNIC I'm watching the live cam feed from the Survival of New Orleans Blog, and you can see the pall of smoke hanging over downtown, and plumes rising from various fires. If New Orleans wasn't hell on earth already, it's slowly becoming so... Apparently the promised military presence is still in Iraq missing in action, as well. Teams Alpha and Bravo finished the medium range recon and there are 3 separate locations on fire. We have pictures coming shortly. During the recon, I spoke to some Federal Marshalls and NOPD. Morale is LOW. Very low. They're not seeing the military presence they say they were promised. I told those guys they can't possibly imagine how much we (the world)...
