Safari formatting problems

June 26, 2005

How embarassing — I’m even a Mac user, and I still didn’t catch that this layout was badly broken on Safari. Of course, that’s mostly because I don’t use Safari any more than I use IE on Windows — I use Firefox on both. But at least I check layouts in IE.

Anyway, it’s fixed now, as is Mediacentric (which has been broken for weeks — sheesh, folks - why don’t you tell me these things? lol…)

Thanks Shaleen for the head’s up!

Making Cmd-K = Search in SafariMaybe I'm one of the few die-hard Firefox users on OS X (it doesn't seem likely), but whenever I use Safari, it always drives me nuts that Cmd-K doesn't go to Search. Click for full-sized example Fortunately, it's easy to fix. Go to System Preferences, Keyboard & Mouse, Keyboard Shortcuts, and press the little "+" sign in the lower left to add a new shortcut. Select Safari.app as the Application, enter "Google Search..." as the Menu Title, and press Cmd-K in the Keyboard Shortcut field. Click "add" and you're all done. Safari ShortcutsSomething for everyone today, I guess… If you’re still using Safari I don’t know why, here’s a fairly comprehensive list of keyboard shortcuts. -----...

Fix Apple Earbud Problems with Earjams I don't know who Apple designs their earphones for, but it isn't me. Every set of earphones I've ever gotten with an iPod, iPhone, etc. have been too damn big to fit in my ear. They hurt, and they don't stay in, period. I'm sure I must just have tiny ears (they probably came as a set with my big mouth), but I can't be the only person out there that has this problem. I've never really cared before, since I tend to toss them in a drawer and go with something like V-Moda Vibes which come with an assortment of earpiece sizes, instead. Unfortunately, I really, really want to use the Apple iPhone Bluetooth Headset. It automatically pairs,...

Solving your basic management problems…I’m willing to bet posting a “help wanted” ad like this one goes a long ways towards cutting down the number of pesky applications you have to sort though… I’d be less sympathetic if I hadn’t been on the receiving end of most of the same things myself, but still… (via Backup Brain) -----...

Unleaded DRMI'm already tired of hearing people bitch about the new iTunes Store / EMI deal to offer DRM-free music. The typical whine is about paying $0.30 more for them not to put DRM on the music. Get a grip, folks -- for your $0.30, you also get a reasonable sampling rate (256Kb/s AAC - double the old rate -- is awfully close to CD quality), and if you don't want to buy ala carte, the whole album (without DRM, at 256Kb/s) is the same price as the old DRM'd up one. Besides, it's not like they don't know you'll go for it -- how much extra money did you pay the oil companies to not put lead in your gasoline?...
