An answer to all the people who want to get music from a mac-formatted iPod onto a PC!! (Hopefully nobody has answered this yet, but I just read the question so many times I figured I’d scroll to the bottom and answer it..)

Download a program called HFSExplorer (http://hem.bredband.net/catacombae/hfsx.html)

It will let you view all the contents of your mac-formatted iPod as if it were an external hard disk (which I guess it is, really..).

All you have to do then is copy all of the files into a new folder on your computer (i.e. C:\ipodcontents\), then go to iTunes, then click File, then Add Folder to Library, and voila! All of your music, playlists, cover art etc is there. Start to finish, it took me about 15 minutes, though that was with a nano.

Hopefully this works for everyone.

I agree!! i got the same exact linksys and for some apperent reason after fixing it a billion times through linksys support, websites, forums, and even youtube videos, i still cant get it to work correctly. Its just a fact ….LINKSYS SUCKS!!

I am trying to use method one, and my computer keeps telling me that it can’t copy certain files because they are “too deep.” After that error message it aborts the file transfer. Any suggestions?

I get better reception with my ham radio and a ball of tinfoil.
DTV was doomed from the get go. You need the right signal strength or you get nada.
As a member of Skywarn (I track storms for the Weather Service) what happens when theres a tornado ripping through town and no one knows, cause their tv is out?
As technology gets “better’ it gets worse.
Like we hams say, don’t fix it if it works.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I used your back alley way through a PC to get my songs back off my iPod and it was super easy! I am so grateful to you for posting these different strategies. I’m so so happy that I don’t have to deal with finding some other way of getting my songs back, or worst case scenario, buying them all back from iTunes. Steve Jobs needs to solve this conundrum! In the meantime, there’s your fantastic website. Thank you again.

Wow different strokes for different folks. As not everyone likes the summer blockbusters, this movie is certainly not for the masses. I think that it was a masterpiece though. It’s no Avatar and it doesn’t try to be. Nor is it trying to be Harry Potter. What it set out to do it did quite well though, IMO.

It was financed by the financiers of Saw. It was not done by them. FWIW.
